Applying to UK universities — UCAS & the personal statement

Putting together a very strong UCAS application is a vital part of any UK university application. From choosing the right course and university to writing a convincing personal statement that stands out from the crowd is something with which Minerva Tuition can help. As an Admissions Tutor at a top Russell Group university said at a presentation recently: “Don’t apply to our university.” By that, he meant: “Don’t apply to us because of our name; apply to us because we offer the course that you want to read for three or four years.” This is such an obvious idea, but many students and their parents can become fixated on an institution rather than on what is actually the most important reason to go to university: to read a course that you are genuinely deeply interested in and want to enjoy.
